Top Weekly Brisnet Speed Ratings for Stakes December 11 – 17

Four runners over the past week were awarded triple-digit Brisnet Speed Ratings, topped by World of Trouble.

The Jason Servis-trained sophomore just missed by a neck on the wire after leading throughout the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) in early November at Churchill Downs, and returned December 15 to romp by 13 3/4 lengths in the Marion County division of the Florida Sire Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. That dominant score bestowed a 110 BRIS Speed rating upon the bay colt.

Grade 1 winner Glorious Empire also avenged a Breeders’ Cup loss in his prior start, specifically the Turf (G1), when taking the Fort Lauderdale Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park on December 15. The Chuck Lawrence charge earned his first ever triple-digit BRIS Speed figure (108) for the triumph and could next show up to make his eight-year-old bow in the $7 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) on January 26.

Sir Anthony also garnered a first triple-digit BRIS Speed number (100) when upsetting the Harlan’s Holiday Stakes (G3) by a half-length at 25-1 earlier on the same Gulfstream card. The Anthony Mitchell pupil got the best of the Florida Derby (G1) hero and Kentucky Derby (G1) third-placer Audible, who was making just his second start following a six-month break.

Two-year-old Blindwillie McTell took home a 103 BRIS Speed rating for breaking his maiden in his second start for trainer Linda Rice. The gelded son of Posse finished second in his debut on November 17 but returned December 16 to take the Great White Way division of the New York Stallion Series Stakes at Aqueduct.
