Five speedy and precocious first-out winners, and one maiden, are entered for Friday’s $100,000 Flash S. (G3) at Belmont Park. MASTER OF DISASTER (Dance
Master) and SPEED OF SOUND (Phone Trick) are both trained by co-owner Steve Klesaris, but since John Velazquez
is named to ride both, only one will
be allowed to start, most likely Master of Disaster, who simply
toyed with his rivals when unveiled on May 10 at Delaware Park.

Master of Disaster, who was purchased at auction earlier this year for
$600,000, broke quickly and then galloped to a 13 1/4-length victory as
the 2-5 favorite while well in hand through the final furlong, earning a 115 BRIS Speed rating. The chestnut colt equaled the track record, running the 4
1/2-furlong distance in :51 4/5 with his final sixteenth in six seconds. He
should be hard to deny in this spot.

BEACON SHINE (Montbrook) broke his maiden by 8 3/4 lengths as the 6-5
favorite in the mud at Keeneland under a hand ride. The Bill Mott trainee
returned in the Three Chimneys Juvenile S. at Churchill Downs on Derby Day where
he got away a bit slow, raced inside on the backstretch, then offered a bid from
the outside near the furlong marker before finishing third, beaten five lengths.
The dark bay is tactically drawn on the outside for a clear pressing/stalking
trip and is a logical choice to complete the exacta.

Speed of Sound, the other half of the Klesaris entry, broke his maiden as the
2-5 favorite by a widening five lengths at Belmont Park. The chestnut colt, who
cost $550,000 at auction earlier this year, would be a player for a share, but he is not
expected to run.

TOMPEST (Storm Cat) broke his maiden by a nostril at Keeneland, but he is
probably not the top juvenile in trainer Todd Pletcher’s barn. UNION COURSE
(Dixie Union) was a handy 6 1/4-length winner in his debut over this surface,
running five-eighths in :59 1/5. Both of these entrants are hard to separate,
and either could round out the trifecta.

MISTER ZEE (Mr. Greeley) is making his first career start off a series of
rather uninspiring works at Saratoga for trainer Patrick Biancone. He is hard to
recommend.
