Songandaprayer, Cherokee Run fillies drill a furlong in :10

Last updated: 3/10/06 8:05 PM

Two fillies, one by Songandaprayer and the other by Cherokee Run, breezed
one-furlong in :10 on Friday to post the fastest times at that distance at
the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s Under Tack Preview. The
session is the first of two previews for the March Sale of Selected
Two-Year-Olds in Training.

The Songandaprayer filly, consigned by Eisaman Equine as Hip No. 28, is out
of the winning Grade 3-placed Froze (It’s Freezing) and hails from the same
female family as 1980 Correction H. (G3) heroine Misty Native (Native Charger)
and 1971 Wood Memorial S. hero Good Behaving. The Arkansas-bred previously sold
for $40,000 at the 2005 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The Cherokee Run
Kentucky-bred filly, consigned by Mayberry Farm, agent, as Hip 37, is out of the unraced Glory Way (Woodman), a half-sister to 1994 Norfolk S. (G2) hero Supremo.
The juvenile sold last year at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale for
$80,000.

Three juveniles worked a quarter-mile in :21 1/5. The first, Hip 101, is a
dark bay colt named A STRONG STATEMENT (Salt Lake). Consigned by Moonshadow Farm (Mark and
Tina Casse), agent for Norman Casse, the New York-bred is the first foal out of
the unraced Lady Manolo (Meadowlake). The juvenile’s third dam is 1985
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) heroine Twilight Ridge (Cox’s Ridge), who
produced 1995 Demoiselle S. (G2) victress La Rosa (Wild Again). La Rosa is, in
turn, the dam of Taittinger Rose (Menifee), winner of the Sabin H. (G3) earlier this year. A
Strong Statement was purchased for $35,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling
Sale last year.

Hip 129, a chestnut filly by Rizzi, was the second two-year-old to drill two
furlongs in that time. Consigned by Ricky Leppala, agent, the New York-bred is out of the
unraced mare Love Destiny (Silver Deputy), and is a half-sister to multiple
stakes winner Accurate (Precise End). She also comes from the same female family
as stakes heroine and Grade 2-placed Jill Miner (Maudlin).

Hip 174, a dark bay colt by Trippi named NO TRIPPIN, rounded out the bullet
works at a quarter-mile. Consigned by Old South Farm, the Florida-bred is out of
the winning Norika (Lucky North), who is a half-sister to stakes-winning and
Grade 3-placed Megacles. No Trippin went for $20,000 at the 2005 OBS August
Yearling Sale.

FRIEND OF MAE, a bay colt by Exploit listed as Hip 8, was the fastest
three-furlong worker, going the distance in :34 3/5. Consigned by Rolling
Meadows Farm, agent, the Kentucky-bred is out of the stakes-winning Fine
Dining (State Dinner), making the juvenile colt a half-brother to 1997 Vernon O.
Underwood S. (G3) winner Tower Full. Friend of Mae sold for $20,000 at the 2005
Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The second preview session will take place Saturday, and the two-day sale
commences on March 21 at 11 a.m. (EST).
