The six-furlong Miss Preakness S. (G3) for three-year-old fillies kicks off
the stakes action on Friday’s Pimlico Special (G1) card, and WILDCAT BETTIE B
(Meadowlake) is our top choice. The chestnut lass began the year with a gritty
score in the sloppy, six-furlong Dixie Belle S. at Oaklawn Park. After a miscue
in her next start, she defeated subsequent Nassau County Breeders’ Cup S. (G2)
heroine Hello Liberty (Forest Camp) in a 5 1/2-furlong dash in Hot Springs. In
her most recent outing, the Larry Jones trainee rallied from the far outside
around the turn before finishing a better-than-appeared third in the about
seven-furlong Beaumont S. (G2) at Keeneland. Wildcat Bettie B should handle
these.

The Todd Pletcher-trained G CITY GAL (Elusive Quality) broke her maiden at
first asking at Gulfstream Park. Most recently, she defeated first-level
allowance foes at Keeneland after a prolonged stretch duel, running six furlongs
in 1:09 4/5 while earning a 110 BRIS Speed rating. The bay filly figures to get
sent for the early lead and may hold on for a share under first-call rider
Garrett Gomez.

CELESTIAL LEGEND (City Zip) won her first six starts, then finished second in
the six-furlong Cicada S. (G3) at Aqueduct, and a disappointing fifth as the 1-2
favorite to the aforementioned Hello Liberty in the sloppy Peach Blossom S. at Delaware Park. The Dale Capuano trainee will have to return to form to threaten
here and may go forth as an underlay at 2-1 on the morning line.

Northern California shipper PRESS CAMP (Comic Strip) projects a forwardly
placed trip along the inside under Rafael Bejarano. She must be respected for a
placing, but we’re going to play against for all the money.

MY LUCKY FREE (Mazel Trick) was a precocious juvenile in Southern California
and returned to action with a good runner-up effort at Calder. She has potential
to come along late for a minor award. ARDMORE PROSPECT (Allen’s Prospect) ran a
good second in a five-furlong stakes over this surface last out and will likely
add to the early fractions. MISS LINA (Two Punch) exits a one-mile allowance
victory on the turf and is hard to recommend despite being ridden by apprentice
sensation Rosie Napravnik.
