CITY AT PEACE, a bay filly by Include, topped the first session of the Fasig-Tipton
Texas Summer Yearlings Sale at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Monday
when selling to Dapple Bloodstock for $140,000. Consigned by Elysian Bloodstock,
agent, as Hip No. 67, the February 9 miss is out of the Carson City mare City
Hideaway, making the yearling a half-sister to the winning stakes-placed gelding Robbeau (Valid Expectations). The Louisiana-bred’s third dam is French
classic winner Lacovia (Majestic Light), who produced 2000 Dewhurst S. (Eng-G1) victor
and European two-year-old champion Tobougg (Ire) (Barathea [Ire]).

The second highest price occurred when DSB
Stable, agent, acquired Hip 13, a chestnut colt by Red Bullet, for $77,000.
Consigned by Tonya Jurgens, agent, the April 30 colt is out of Annie Bananie (Farma
Way), a half-sister to 1990 Fountain of Youth S. (G2) winner and $999,275-earner
Shot Gun Scott (Exuberant), Grade 3 heroine Shot Gun Bonnie (It’s Freezing), and
stakes winner Shotgun Harry J. (Exuberant). The
Louisiana-bred was purchased for $12,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s
OBS January Winter Mixed Sale.

A total of 137 yearlings sold for $1,642,100, a decrease of 14.2 percent
compared to last year when 170 yearlings sold for $1,914,200. The average price,
however, rose 6.4 percent, from $11,260
to $11,986, while median price increased 10 percent, from $5,000 to $5,500.

The second and final session begins Tuesday at 10 a.m. (CDT).
