Big Glen tops Battaglia field

Last updated: 2/27/08 7:56 PM

BIG GLEN (Cactus Ridge), YOUR ROUND (Distorted Humor) and MR. HARRY
(Flatter), the first three finishers from the WEBN S. on February 2, all return
in Saturday’s $100,000 John Battaglia Memorial S. at Turfway Park. The one-mile
WEBN and the 1 1/16-mile Battaglia are local stepping stones for three-year-olds
en route to the 1 1/8-mile Lane’s End S. (G2) on March 22.

Big Glen quickly advanced on the outside around the far turn, then drove to a
1 1/4-length victory in the WEBN. The Frank Brothers charge picks up four pounds
off that effort and will carry the co-highweight of 121 pounds. Your Round closed
from far back in the stretch, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of
pacesetter Mr. Harry. Your Round and Mr. Harry will carry 115 pounds, two less
than they did in the WEBN.

BRIARWOOD CIRCLE (Smart Strike), last seen finishing second by a nose in the
Display S. at Woodbine, and CHEROKEE TRIANGLE (Cherokee Run), an emphatic 10
3/4-length winner of the grassy Sunday Silence S. at Louisiana Downs, will make
their seasonal debuts in the WEBN. Caressing H. winner ABSOLUTELY CINDY (Arch)
will take on the boys in this spot.

The field, from the rail out, with jockeys and weights, is BENEFICIARY
(Distorted Humor), Rex Stokes III, 115; INSTILL (Proud Citizen), John McKee,
121; Big Glen, James Lopez; Mr. Harry, Bill Trolio; DIXIE DECISION (Dixieland
Band), Dean Sarvis, 115; HALO’S KING (Halo’s Image), Jesus Castanon, 115; Your
Round, Victor Lebron; Absolutely Cindy, Orlando Mojica, 116; Cherokee Triangle,
Miguel Mena, 121; BEST BUDDY (Best of Luck), Brian Hernandez Jr., 115; and
Briarwood Circle, Patrick Husbands, 115.
