A field of six will go 1 1/8 miles in the $200,000 Excelsior S. (G3) at
Aqueduct on Saturday. Stakes winner NATIONAL PRIDE (Macho Uno) could be
the speed of the field and will likely be the target for the closers in this one
for Kiaran McLaughlin. The once highly-thought of five-year-old is very tough on
his best day and his early foot gives him an edge over a field with more late
runners, so he must be used on top in our plays. Richard Migliore has the call.

Grade 3-winning veteran NITE LIGHT (Thunder Gulch) has the class to take this
field down for Todd Pletcher but could be going a tad short in this nine-furlong
run. John Velazquez will guide the likely favorite, whom we will use in our
multi-race tickets.

Stymie S. fifth MORE THAN A REASON (More Than Ready) is very consistent but
looks to be a few lengths slower than the big guns on this day. He could easily
be third here, though.

GOLDSVILLE (Successful Appeal) ran a big one in his debut for Michael
Hushion, posting a 100 BRIS speed number and defeating two next-out winners. We
still have to see him put forth a top effort in a graded race before backing
him.

Stymie S. fourth SENIORS PRIDE (Sweetsouthernsaint) has elevated his game
of late, and he’s capable on his best day to be in the hunt at the finish.

STARGLEAM (Aldebaran), no match in a recent starter allowance race, looks to
be in deep.
