VENTANA (Toccet) is the horse to beat in the $150,000 Potrero Grande H. (G2)
at Santa Anita.
A close second to Kinsale King (Yankee Victor) in the Palos Verdes H. (G2) two
starts back, the four-year-old exits a runner-up effort to Bob Black Jack in the
San Carlos H. (G2) and should appreciate the class relief on Saturday. The Bob
Baffert pupil earned excellent BRIS Speed (99) and Late Pace (102) numbers last
time and figures to sit a perfect stalking trip here with Garrett Gomez. We
won’t go against him.

EATON’S GIFT (Johannesburg) will show speed from the rail under Tyler Baze
and is a threat to steal it. The multiple Grade 2 winner faced serious pressure
when weakening to seventh in the Palos Verdes, but he was making his first start off
a lengthy layoff and is a candidate to improve off the tightener for Mike
Mitchell. The five-year-old could be lone speed on Saturday.

GATO GO WIN (City Place) showed his affinity for the Pro-Ride (4-2-1-1) last
time, posting a solid victory over allowance/optional claiming rivals in his
second start for Robert Troeger, and has been freshened for his stakes return.
Two for two at 6 1/2 furlongs, he should sit a good trip with his tactical speed
and looks potentially dangerous beneath Rafael Bejarano.

SANGAREE (Awesome Again) is a little slow from a Speed-figure perspective,
but he exits a nice win in the off-the-turf Joe Hernandez S. and likes the
Pro-Ride (7-3-1-1). He merits consideration for a minor award with Joe Talamo. E Z’S GENTLEMAN
(Yankee Gentleman) has class concerns, but he’s run well since picking up the
services of Joel Rosario two starts back and exits a good-looking
allowance/optional claiming score. He appears to be rounding into his best form
for Baffert and rates as a potential exotics factor.

Former claimer RUSH WITH THUNDER (Tribal Rule) will make his first start
since a second in the Triple Bend (G1) last July and we can’t recommend the deep
closer off the layoff. OFF KILTER (Marino Marini) will make his stakes debut in
good form for new trainer Bill Morey, but we’ll watch to see how the Northern
California shipper handles the severe class hike. GALLANT SON (Malabar Gold) and
KANAN DUME (Malibu Moon) would both be a big surprise.
