Wonderlandbynight remains perfect in Arlington-Washington
Lassie

Mark Dedomenico’s WONDERLANDBYNIGHT (Sky Mesa) rallied into contention off
the far turn and drew clear in the final furlong for a 2 1/2-length score in
Saturday’s $100,000

Arlington-Washington Lassie S. (G3)
. Trained by Michael Reavis and ridden by
E.T. Baird, the chestnut juvenile filly survived a claim of foul by the jockey
of runner-up Jordy Y (Congrats) to capture her graded debut, completing a
mile over Polytrack in 1:36 3/5.

Wonderlandbynight is now perfect from four career starts. She finished second
when making her career bow versus state-breds at Arlington on June 27, but was
later elevated to first via disqualification. However, that elevation didn’t
occur until after she captured another state-bred maiden special weight test by
4 3/4 lengths on June 27. She shipped to Woodbine for the August 14 Ontario
Debutante S. and recorded a 1 3/4-length decision. With Saturday’s $55,200
payday, she’s now earned $176,418.

Wonderlandbynight appeared to come in slightly when passing Jordy Y in
midstretch, but she was clearly much the best and the incident didn’t cost her
rival a placing.

“I don’t have much excuse, she (Wonderlandbynight) did come over just in
front of me, but (Baird) had a lot more horse,” said Junior Alvarado, who
piloted Jordy Y.

Wonderlandbynight was making her first start past 6 1/2 furlongs in the
Lassie.

“I was not at all concerned (about stretching her out),” Baird said. “Mike
has brought her along real well. She’s a real versatile filly. She can go to the
lead if you want her to or she could come from just about anywhere you want her
to. It’s what makes her a good horse that’s she’s so versatile.”

The near 7-2 second choice in the 13-horse field, Wonderlandbynight totaled
$8.80, $4.80 and $3.60 to her supporters. Jordy Y edged Third Chance (Kafwain)
by a neck gave back $5.60 and $4.20 at 4-1. Third Chance was good for $4.20 at
9-2, and it was another 2 1/2 lengths back to 3-1 favorite Honey Chile
(Invisible Ink) in fourth. Miss Inclined (Pulpit), Crepe Myrtle (Purge), Summer
Savory (Horse Chestnut [SAf]), Edie (Eddington), Tellme All Aboutit (Exchange
Rate), One Star (Include), Larue Lovelake (Friends Lake), Image of Grace (Roar
of the Tiger) and Songofthecity (Songandaprayer) completed the order of finish.

The exotics returned $41.80 (exacta), $144.60 (trifecta) and $403.80
(9-6-5-11 superfecta).

Bred in Illinois by Reavis, Wonderlandbynight is out of the winning
Onemiracleatatime (Gulch), who is also the dam of an unnamed yearling filly by
Cat Thief. She is a half-sister to stakes winner Timeless Love (Gilded Time) and
is closely related to stakes hero and Grade 1 runner-up Lookinforthebigone
(State Dinner); Grade 3 queen Savorthetime (Gilded Time); and stakes winner and
Grade 2-placed The Key Rainbow (Ire) (Rainbow Quest).
