Fair Grounds kicks off its Road to the Kentucky Derby series of prep races this weekend, and an overflow field of 15 has been entered in the Lecomte Stakes (G3) in pursuit of points toward the first Saturday in May. The Road to the Kentucky Oaks also goes through the New Orleans venue, with seven sophomore fillies ready to contest a mile and 70 yards in the Silverbulletday Stakes.
Gulfstream Park has a quartet of Sunshine Millions contests on tap for Saturday while Aqueduct sends out five to sprint seven furlongs in the Toboggan Stakes (G3).
Santa Anita Park also carded a sprint contest for Saturday, the six-furlong Palos Verdes Stakes (G2), and has the only graded offering on Sunday in the Astra Stakes (G3) sending distaffers 1 1/2 mile on the turf.
