This weekend features a break from Kentucky Derby points contests, with only two graded events on tap Saturday. However, Sunland Park hosts the Mine That Bird Derby on Sunday, a race that is the traditional prep for the Sunland Derby (G3) on March 24.
Santa Anita Park and Gulfstream Park feature the graded races, with 10 entered in the Buena Vista Stakes (G2) in Southern California and nine lining up in the Hal’s Hope Stakes (G3) in Florida.
