Dixie Chatter (Dixie Union), a contender in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
(G1), was withdrawn on Thursday after spiking a fever. As a result, 12
two-year-olds will line up for the 1 1/16-mile event, and TALE OF EKATI (Tale of
the Cat) is our top choice. The Barclay Tagg trainee was a dominant 8 1/4-length
winner in his debut at Belmont Park and then was a good second to Ready’s Image
(More Than Ready) in the Sanford S. (G2) at Saratoga. Despite encountering early
trouble, the bay colt burst through along the rail to win the Futurity S. (G2)
at Belmont Park in his most recent outing. Take of Ekati has been training
forwardly of late, blazing four furlongs in a bullet :45 4/5 on Monday after
breezing one mile in 1:43 over this surface in mid-October. He projects a
stalk-and-pounce trip and should offer good value under regular rider Eibar Coa.

Wicked Style is seeking to keep his perfect record going in the Juvenile
(Michael J. Marten/Horsephotos.com)

WICKED STYLE (Macho Uno) has won all three of his lifetime starts on Polytrack. The
chestnut colt was a gritty winner of the Arlington-Washington Futurity (G3) and
then rated nicely on the lead before kicking clear to a 3 1/4-length score in
the 1 1/16-mile Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland after breaking from post
12. Wicked Style will once again begin from the far outside and will be making
his first start on a dirt surface. He is an intriguing sleeper at 10-1 on the
morning line.

Our longshot special is OLD MAN BUCK (Hold That Tiger). The chestnut colt was
forced wide entering the backstretch, then advanced sharply from the outside
around the second turn before finishing well for third, 3 1/2 lengths behind
Wicked Style in the Breeders’ Futurity. In his previous start, he won the 1
1/16-mile Cradle S. in convincing fashion on turf at River Downs. Old Man Buck
will be equipped with blinkers for the first time and gets a rider change to
Rafael Bejarano. He could surprise at 20-1 on the morning line.

Saratoga maiden winner SLEW’S TIZNOW (Tiznow) ran well for runner-up honors
in the Breeders’ Futurity. The dark bay colt stalked Wicked Style from the
outside down the backstretch, offered a bid near the three-eighths pole, then
re-rallied when headed in the stretch. Slew’s Tiznow is well drawn near the
inside for a ground-saving trip under regular rider Julien Leparoux.

Of the two horses trained by Steve Asmussen, KODIAK KOWBOY (Posse) rates a
slight edge over PYRO (Pulpit). Kodiak Kowboy won four straight, including the
Bashford Manor S. (G3) and Saratoga Special S. (G2), before finishing a good
second as the 4-5 favorite in the Futurity. The bay colt projects a
forwardly placed inside trip and might earn a share. Pyro closed well for
runner-up honors in the Champagne S. (G1). The dark bay colt appears to be
improving and had a good workout recently at Keeneland. First-call rider Shaun
Bridgmohan will ride.

War Pass enters the Juvenile off an easy win in the Champagne
(Michael J. Marten/Horsephotos.com)

WAR PASS (Cherokee Run), the 5-2 morning line favorite trained by Nick Zito,
is undefeated in three starts and most recently was the front-running winner of
the one-turn Champagne where the two primary contenders — Majestic Warrior
(A.P. Indy) and Ready’s Image — were not competitive. The dark bay colt has
only worked once since and could be vulnerable in his two-turn debut.

Southern California shipper SALUTE THE SARGE (Forest Wildcat) won
back-to-back graded stakes races before finishing second in both the Del Mar
Futurity (G1) and Norfolk S. (G1). The speedy colt has never raced on dirt and
could be hung out to dry from the outside around the first turn. He has the look of
a potential underlay.

SHORE DO (Include) is a good late closer who finished third in the Norfolk.
The chestnut colt adds blinkers for the Juvenile and is worth a second look for
the bottom of the exotics at a price. Z HUMOR (Distorted Humor), who finished an
even third in the Champagne, would have ranked higher if not for his subpar
workout on Monday. The Bill Mott trainee also adds blinkers.

GLOBALIZATION (Touch Gold) comes off a front-running victory against maidens
in his fourth career start and would seem over his head with these. OVEREXTENDED
(Monarchos) exits a stalking victory against maidens in his fifth career start
and appears unlikely to factor.
