SCHIAPARELLI (Monsun), Germany’s highweighted three-year-old in 2006, will race in the royal blue of
Godolphin in 2008 after Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum’s operation
snapped up the multiple Group 1 winner. Trained by Peter Schiergen, the Stall
Blankenese-owned colt captured last year’s Deutsches Derby (Ger-G1) and went on
to post a trio of top-level scores this season in the Deutschland-Preis
(Ger-G1), Preis von Europa (Ger-G1) and Gran Premio del Jockey Club (Ity-G1).
His new connections will point Schiaparelli toward the Dubai Spring Carnival.

“He will arrive in Dubai shortly and then he’ll be aimed at the Sheema Classic
(UAE-G1) and other races after that,” Godolphin’s Racing Manager Simon Crisford
told Racing Post. “He’s a nice horse and he’s done exceptionally well in Germany — let’s
hope he can now move on to the international stage.”
