Jockey Javier Castellano, the current leading North American rider in both
money earned and wins, is close to breaking the all-time single-season earnings
record of $25,634,852 set by Ramon Dominguez in 2012.

Through December 9, Castellano’s mounts have earned $25,626,003. Joel Rosario
is second with $21,094,576. Castellano is not scheduled to ride again until
Friday at Gulfstream Park.

A native of Maracaibo, Venezuela, Castellano has been the regular rider this
season for top three-year-old filly Princess of Sylmar and recent Remsen Stakes
winner Honor Code, a hot prospect for next year’s Kentucky Derby.

The
36-year-old journeyman also captured the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
Fillies with Ria Antonia and the $1 million Louisiana Derby with Revolutionary.

Castellano leads all jockeys with 344 wins this year, 42 more than Russell
Baze in second.
